South Central Electric Association (SCEA) supports the local community through various activities. We believe in helping with the development of a strong community to create jobs and improve the quality of our members’ lives.
Since 1966 SCEA has been sending an area student to Washington D.C. through our Washington D.C. Youth Tour Essay contest. Each year one of our power suppliers, Basin Electric, provides a $1,000 scholarship to a student of a SCEA member.
South Central Electric has assisted our area fire departments by providing funding with unclaimed capital credit disbursements. In 2014 SCEA received a USDA Rural Economic Development Grant to provide low interest loans for fire equipment at area fire departments.
South Central Electric has obtained USDA Rural Economic Development Loans to help create and maintain jobs in our area.
In 2015 South Central Electric formed the South Central Electric Association Trust and began Operation Round Up®. Members’ bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar and proceeds are set aside in the Trust. Funds from this program go to charitable organizations, fire departments, emergency response, scholarships, programs for the young & elderly and other worthwhile causes in the SCEA service territory.
